步驟1
檢查家庭作業
步驟2 介紹新語言項目
出示或畫一張電話的圖片(或實物)。問:What’s this called? Do you know any other words that begin with tele-?幫助學生回答television,說:The telephone and useful inventions. An invention is often a machine that helps us. Can you think of other inventions that we have at home?收集學生的回答,寫在黑板上。指出詞的構成:invent+ion, invent+or.然后提問:What inventions do we have in the street/in a factory/on a fame?等等。
步驟3 讀,說
學生用書第31頁第1部分,第25課口語錄音帶。合上書。提問:What kind of people did Thomas Edison say he liked?放錄音磁帶讓學生聽并找出答案(He liked people who had ideas)。打開書。再次放錄音讓學生聽并跟讀。要求學生猜測生詞able,neatly的詞義。讓學生兩人小組練習對話。
步驟4 問,答
學生用書第31頁第2部分。通過這一段,看學生是否能猜出動詞own的意思。然后學生以小組為單位進行問答練習。讓他們比較各自的答案,然后叫個別學生向全班做匯報。
步驟5 練習冊
練習冊第25課練習1~3。所有的練習都可以以兩人小組的形式完成。做練習1時,可以加一些詞,例如:examination/exam, mathematics/math(s)等等。當學生兩人小組猜測每一個發明是什麼之后,與全班一起核對答案。
做練習3時,當學生兩人一組就他們的發明編出謎語之后,叫每個小組念自己的謎語,其他學生猜測答案。
家庭作業:
在練習本上寫下一個發明的謎語。

說:In China’s history, there are many inventions. Who can tell me some of the famous inventions in China? Who were the inventors? Did these people want to be inventors? 鼓勵學生談論四大發名:造紙術、印刷術、火藥和指南針,以及其他發明。可能他們的家鄉因某種發明而聞名。一邊問以下兩個問題,一邊將問題寫在黑板上:Do you want to be an inventor? What would you like to be?解釋不定式的用法。如有必要,可用漢語解釋。
步驟3 讀前問題
學生用書第32頁第1部分。首先和學生一起通過課文上邊的兩個閱讀理解性問題。讓他們猜測spirit的意思。然后要求學生討論這兩個問題。把他們的想法寫在黑板上。
步驟4 讀
學生用書第32頁第2部分,第26課口語錄音帶。要求學生快速閱讀課文,了解文章大意。核對答案(A story about Thomas Edison)。問:Why is the title of this passage, ’The man who never gave up’?讓學生仔細看課文,找到答案(Because he never quit) .
附加說明
托瑪斯愛迪生于1847年2月11日出生在俄亥俄州米蘭市。在他剛剛會說話不久,他就開始問每一個他認識的人有關事情來龍去脈的問題。當愛迪生長大些了以后,他喜歡讀書。不久家里就沒有什麼再讓他讀的了。于是他的父親介紹他去圖書館。愛迪生從書架底層的最后一本書開始,瀏覽或認真讀圖書館里的每一本書。愛迪生通過自己的全部閱讀得出結論:人不應將自己的信仰建筑在別人寫的東西上,要親自證明事物的真相。因而他接受了這樣的觀點:獨創的想法是最好的。他的許多發明包括燈泡、留聲機、錄音電話機、蠟紙油印機和最早的無聲電影。他于1931年10月18日逝世于新澤西州,享年84歲。
要求學生猜測生詞和表達法的含義:inventor, try out, pupil, build, at the age of, track, frighten, rush, rush out, safety, telegraph, open up, lifetime.
可以給出下列詞匯的簡單英語釋義:
inventor=someone who makes something that has never been made
try out=to try something to see if it works
frighten 是個動詞,意思是“to make someone feel afraid”.
rush=to do something quickly
open up 在此處意為“to start as in a business or a lab”.
Lifetime=the period of time during which a person is alive
再放一遍錄音讓學生聽并讓他們跟著重復。注意發音和語調。

步驟5 練習冊
做練習冊第26課練習2和3。練習2可以單獨完成。當學生找到一個錯句時,他們必須給出正確答案。
練習3可以全班一起做。
家庭練習:
在練習本上寫下練習冊練習2的正確句子。
復習生詞。
第27課
步驟1 復習
1. 通過檢查練習冊第26課練習3的家庭作業,復習生詞。
2. 問:What do you want to do this weekend?復習不定式。幫助學生用不定式回答問題,例如:I want to go for a walk/I want to go to my grandparents’等等。
步驟2 討論
學生用書第33頁第1部分。讀一遍這些問題后回答。教單詞graduate。然后學生以小組為單位互相進行問答。注意用在動詞want, hope, plan 等之后作賓語的不定式。
步驟3 讀,說
學生用書第33頁第2部分。第27課口語錄音帶。放錄音,讓學生聽并讓他們重復。要學生猜單詞noisy的意思。然后讓他們兩人一組練習對話。看看學生是否能不看書完成這個練習。
指出不定式可用作要求某人做謀事的用法。以ask/tell him to turn it down為例。告訴學生to turn是不定式,to turn it down是不定式短語用作(him)賓語補語的。
兩人一組做練習冊第26課練習1。然后叫幾組學生自愿表演他們的對話。
步驟4 練習
學生用書第33頁第3部分。過一遍方框里的生詞和詞組,確定學生明白這些詞語的含義。與個別學生做一兩個對話作為范例。然后讓學生兩人一組練習。指出在句型let somebody do something中,不定式to被省略。
步驟5 問,答
學生用書第33頁第4部分。通過問學生有關不定式用作(目的)狀語的問題,如:to keep him busy, to work as an inventor, to learn as much as he could, 復習第26課的故事,然后學生兩人一組做問答練習。
步驟6 發明某物
學生用書第33頁第5部分*。把學生分為4人一組。然后讓他們自由討論要發明的東西。要求他們描述它如何工作和為什麼有必要擁有它。如果時間允許,讓他們畫出他們發明的圖畫。
步驟7 練習冊
做練習冊第27課練習2和3。首先兩人一組做練習2。然后叫幾個學生自告奮勇說出他們的句子,可以全班一起做練習3。
家庭作業:
寫下練習冊第27課練習1中的一段對話。
寫下練習冊第27課練習3中的句子。
第28課
步驟1 復習
1. 檢查家庭作業。
2. 復習Don’t you know---? Why did Edison---?和學生用書第33頁的對話.
步驟2 聽
學生用書第34頁第1部分,第28課聽力訓練錄音帶。說:Listen to the text and write a title for it。放錄音磁帶,學生聽。可能的標題是:Think first! Hard work brings success等等。再放錄音。然后轉到練習冊第28課練習1,并且要兩人一組回答問題。和全班一起核對答案。再次放錄音,學生邊聽邊填空。
聽力課文:
Thomas Edison once said that to be an inventor there are some things you have to do. First, you have to make a good plan. Second, you have to make sure that there is a need for your invention. If there is no need, then you can’t make any money on your invention. Third, you have to think carefully. You need to get to the most important idea of your invention and work from there. He also said you need to make a survey. You have to study about your idea for your invention and see if anyone else has the dame idea as you. Then you need to work hard and never give up. Don’t worry if you fail. Each failure brings you much closer to the right answer. Sooner or later You will make your invention work.

步驟3 與方框里的副詞和不定式相配、寫
學生用書第34頁第2部分。叫兩個學生讀對話。讓學生猜測healthily的意思。然后叫其他學生用方框中不定式和副詞讀對話。現在把全班分為兩人一組活動,替換方框中的詞。讓幾組學生和全班一起讀他們的對話。要求學生在練習冊上寫下他們的一段對話。
步驟4 朗讀,表演
學生用書第34-35頁第3部分,第28課口語錄音帶。提問:What’s wrong with Ann’s CD player?要求學生聽錄音,找答案。指出Mine’s broken = Mine is broken 。讓學生說出clearly的意思和詞性。放錄音,學生聽并跟讀。然后,要求學生兩人一組練習對話。讓學生依據學生用書所給的范例編出新對話并表演這個對話。
步驟5 小詩
學生用書第35頁第4部分*。給全班朗讀這首小詩。然后學生向自己的同學朗讀這首小詩,練習他們的語調。復習所有不熟悉的詞。再看看哪個學生能不看書說出這首小詩。無論如何要確認他們帶著感情朗讀小詩,而不是不明白意思的背誦。
步驟6 復習要點
過一遍復習要點7,并討論出現的疑難問題。練習說“有用的表達法”,確認學生懂得它們的意思和什麼時候用它們。
步驟7 測試
聽寫下列依據第28課聽力課文所給的短文。

做練習7時,讓學生快速瀏覽課文,找到問題的答案:Why did Edison sit on the chicken eggs?核對答案(He wanted to have chicks)。現在要求學生慢慢地讀課文,并和同伴一起討論這些問題。和全班一起核對答案。接著要學生把課文中的每一個不定式劃出來。它們是:
