Part Two Teaching aims
1. 讓學生識記并能正確運用以下詞匯:ash, bury, current, disaster, erupt, flow, latitude, lava, occur, tornado, tropical, hurricane, pick up, take off, on average, end up。
2. 學習過去完成時的被動語態的用法。
3. 理解含有所學生詞、含有過去完成時的被動語態和間接引語的句子和段落,讀懂其意義并獲取信息;理解模塊提供的和來自其他渠道的對不同自然災害的介紹并獲取信息。
4. 引導學生整體把握文章主旨,提高閱讀效率;鼓勵學生開展小組合作,運用副詞表達好消息和壞消息。
5. 了解自然災害的危害,結合發生在我國的兩次大地震及甘肅省舟曲縣的泥石流,激發學生學好科學文化知識的決心和信心,以實際行動作好與自然災害作斗爭的準備,為人類造福。
Part Three Important points and difficult aims
1. 通過閱讀理解詞匯,通過詞匯學習掌握文章主旨,加深對文章的理解。
2. 理解文章中含有定語從句的句子及含有過去完成時的被動語態的句子。
3. 聯系實際,了解不同的自然災害帶來的危害,激發學生利用所學知識與自然災害作斗爭的決心。

Show a video “Storm Chasers” and some pictures about tornado, hurricane and other natural disasters to lead in the topic of this passage.

Let the students read the whole text quickly and say the main idea of each part.

1. Almost all of them occur in the US, in the area from Texas in the southeast to South Dakota in the north.

StepⅥ Discussion
The teacher shows the topic and some information about the Wenchuan earthquake. First, let the students discuss in groups. Second, each group will display a passage according to the given materials.
