1. 動詞play的幾種用法
(1)play表示“玩(球類)”或“玩棋牌及其他游戲”,這時作賓語的名詞前不帶任何冠詞。如:play basketball/cards/chess/bridge/badminton打籃球/打牌/下棋/打橋牌/打羽毛球。
(2)play表示“演奏,彈奏(樂器)”,這時表示樂器的名詞前須帶定冠詞the。如play the piano/violin。
(3)play表示“裝扮、扮演”。如:play a doctor/ Lu Xun/ the fool扮一名醫生/扮演魯迅/裝傻
(4)play with fire玩火,play with water玩水,play with balls玩球,這些短語中的介詞with不能丟。
△play還有一些其他常見的用法和含義。
(5)play sth. for sb. = play sb. sth. 為某人播放……
(6)play + sth. + on + 樂器

2. help sb. do sth. 與help sb. with sth.

Help sb. with sth. 此詞組的意思為“在某方面幫助某人”,還可以說help sb. do sth.。
如果上下文意義較明確時,兩個詞組可以互換。
注:在help sb. with sth. 結構中,with是介詞,故動詞應變為doing形式,doing相當于名詞,作介詞賓語。

3. join的兩種用法
I want to join the music club. 我想參加音樂俱樂部。
(1)結合、連接:Three roads join together here. 三條路在此會合。
(2)參加:join用作及物動詞,后接表示人的名詞或代詞作賓語,表示和這些人一起進行某項活動。
My classmates all go to the zoo, but I don’t join them.
我的同學都去了動物園,但是我沒有和他們一起去。
△join還用來表示參加軍隊、政黨、組織等,成為其中的一員。如:
join the Party/ League/ WTO/ the army/ the music club
入黨/入團/加入世貿組織/參軍/加入音樂俱樂部
4. a little“一點兒”“稍微”
△它相當于一個程度副詞,與very, very much相對,修飾形容詞、副詞或動詞。如:
Swimming is a little/ very interesting.
游戲有點/很有趣。
She likes bananas a little/ very much.
她有點/很喜歡香蕉。
△a little表示數量,與some, much=a lot of= lots of相對,修飾不可數名詞。如:
There is a little/some/much/water in the glass. 杯子里有點/些/許多水。
a little有時可單獨用于省略句。如:
“Are you hungry?”“Yes, a little.”
“你餓了嗎?”“是的,有點。”(a little= I’m a little hungry.)
“Can you speak Japanese?”“Yes, but only a little.”

5. show一詞的兩種用法
(1)Show what you can do.
△這是祈使句,句意為:展示你會做的吧/展示你的才能吧。
show在此處用作動詞,表示“出示”,“把……拿給看”,一般用兩種結構表示這一意思,即show sb. sth. 或show sth. to sb. “把某物給某人看。”如:
Can you show me your new guitar?
=Can you show your new guitar to me?
我可以看看你的新吉它嗎?
△show還可以表示“帶某人到……”“送某人到……”如:
Can you show me to the teacher’s office?
你能帶我去老師的辦公室嗎?
(2)talent show才藝展示,show是名詞。
作為名詞表示“表演”,“展覽”。如:
a dolphin show 海豚表演
a dog show 愛犬展覽;賽狗會

6. be in的用法

△連系動詞be與in搭配,有“參加”的意思。如:
Alan plays basketball well. He is in the basketball club.
艾倫籃球打得好,他參加了籃球俱樂部(成為俱樂部的一員)。
Victor is in our rock band.

7. maybe的用法
△maybe作副詞,意為:大概,多半,或許。maybe的使用場合較多,現將一些常見的使用場合介紹如下:
(1)不能確定時,如:
Maybe she is at home. 或許她在家里。
(2)避免做明確的回答時,如:
“Can you come with us?”“Maybe!”
“你能和我們一起去嗎?”“可能吧!”
(3)有禮貌地向別人提出要求時,如:
Maybe you can phone me tonight.
或許你可在今晚打電話給我。
△maybe與may be的區別
首先兩個詞在意思上都表示推測,但詞性不同。maybe是副詞,may be是may + be動詞構成的謂語。如:
He isn’t here. He may be at home.
他沒來,他可能在家里。
△may還可用來表示請求許可,相當于can,May/Can I…?我可以……嗎?如:
May/Can I come in? 我可以進來嗎?
8. want用法小結
△want的本意為“要,想要、需要、希望。”如:
We want two good musicians for our rock band.
我們搖滾樂隊需要兩位優秀的音樂人。

wanted譯為:招收、招聘
△want常見的搭配:want to do sth. 想干某事。

9. fill out填寫表格
fill out與fill in是同義詞組,為動詞fill +副詞組成的動副短語,及物。如:
Read the conversation and fill in the card.
讀這個會話,然后填這張卡片。
Here is a card. Please fill it out.
這兒有張卡片,請填一下。
△動副結構的動詞短語,如果是代詞作賓語,那么這個代詞賓語必須放在動詞和副詞之間,因此Please fill it out.不能寫成Please fill out it。
常見的動副結構的短語有:
10. can的用法
can是英語中最常用的幾個情態動詞之一,它沒有人稱和數的變化,不能獨立作謂語,必須與主要的謂語動詞的原形連用。
△can本身不表示動作,只表示體力或腦力方面的能力。例如:
(1)I/ We/ You/ She/ He/ They can speak Chinese.
我/我們/你/你們/她/他/他們/會說漢語。can無人稱和數的變化,表示腦力方面的能力。
(2)I/We/You/She/He/They can carry the heavy box.
我/我們/你/你們/她/他/他們搬得動這個重箱子。表示體力方面的能力。
注:情態動詞本身無人稱和數的變化,后面的動詞用原形。
△情態動詞的否定式由情態動詞加not構成,如:I/We/You/He/She/It/They can’t swim.
can’t=can not
我/我們/你/你們/他/她/它/他們不會游泳。
△情態動詞Yes/No問句的構成:將情態動詞can置于句首,后接句子的主語和主要謂語動詞即可。
如:-Can you/he/she/it/they can swim?
你/他/她/它/他們會游泳嗎?
-Yes, I/he/she/it/they can.
是的,我/他/她/它/他們會游泳。
No, I/he/she/it/they can’t. 不,不會。
△can還可以與疑問詞一起用在特殊疑問句中。如:
Who can swim?誰會游泳?
The fish can swim. 魚會游泳。
What can the cat do?It can drink its milk.
貓會干什么?它會喝它的牛奶。
(3)△“Can we...?”一般疑問句表示說話人請求對方的許可,詢問可不可以做某件事。如:
“Can we put our coats here?”“Oh, yes, you can.”
“我們可不可以把我們的外套放在這兒?”“噢,當然可以。”
11. be good at/ with及系表結構的動詞短語
英語中有大量的由連系動詞be與表語構成的系表結構的短語。如:
Are you good with children?
Tony can dance. He dances well. He is good at dancing.
托尼會跳舞。他跳得很好。

12. good與well的區別
△good和well都當“好”講,但詞性不同,good是形容詞,well是副詞,如:He is a good student. 他是個好學生。“good”在句中是定語修飾名詞。
Tom can play the guitar, but he can’t play it very well.
湯姆會彈吉他,但彈得不太好。
“well”是副詞修飾動詞play。
△well也可用作形容詞與fine同義,表示身體好,如:
-How is your father?
你爸爸身體好嗎?
-He’s fine/well. Thank you.
很好,謝謝你。
13. speak, say, talk和tell
say指用語言表達思想,著重說話的內容或強調說話這一動作,不表示說話的性質。例如:He always says it.
speak強調說話的動作、聲音,而不強調內容。在正式場合表示發言、演講,說某種語言用speak。例如:He is speaking at the meeting. 又如:He speaks Russian.
talk表示兩個人或多個人在一起講話、談論(多指隨意談論)。
例如:I don’t like to talk to him.
talk一般有在講話中交換思想的意思,speak則可以用來指只有一個人在說話。
tell的意思是“告訴,講述、吩咐”,講故事或講笑話多用tell。
例如:She loves to tell stories.
