一.教學內容：
Main task:
Write a detective story for a writing competition at your school.
Tasks:
1. Use reported speech to talk about what someone else said. 用間接引語談論其他人說的話。
2. Use reported speech to report questions. 用間接引語來轉述問題。
3. Use appropriate language to talk about crimes, suspects, innocence and guilt. 用恰當的語言來談論罪行、嫌疑犯、無辜和有罪。
4. Write a detective story for a writing competition at your school.
二. 重點、難點：
Grammar B
B: Reported speech with tense changes. 改變時態的間接引語。
（一）我們由直接引語改為間接引語時，也就是用自己的語言來轉述別人的話時，時態作如下改變：
（直接引語） （間接引語）
1、一般現在時 改為 一般過去時
The witness said “I’m scared.”
The witness said (that) he was scared.
2、現在進行時 改為 過去進行時
“I’m doing my homework,” said she.
She said (that) she was doing her homework.
3、現在完成時 改為 過去完成時
Tom said, “I’ve received the letter.”
Tom said (that) he had received the letter.
4、一般過去時 改為 過去完成時
“I didn’t see the cat,” said he.
He said (that) he hadn’t seen the cat.
5、一般將來時 改為 過去將來時 (would + v.)
“We’ll look for more clues,” said Detective Lu.
Detective Lu said (that) they would look for more clues.
（二）由直接引語改為間接引語時，時間副詞作如下改變：
直接引語 間接引語
today that day
tonight that night
this morning / week that morning / week
tomorrow the next / following day
yesterday the day before
last week the last week
now then
two days ago two days before
e.g. “I was in another place at that time yesterday,” the suspect said.
The suspect said that he had been in another place at that time the day before.
（三）特殊疑問句改為間接引語時，①要把問號改為句號；②要把疑問句的順序改為陳述句的順序。
“Why are you late?” the teacher asked him.
The teacher asked him why he was late.
“How many crimes have you solved?” the interviewer asked Detective Lu.
The interviewer asked Detective Lu how many crimes he had solved.
（四）一般疑問句改為間接引語時，①要把問號改為句號；②要在間接引語前加if / whether；③要把疑問句改為陳述句。
“Can you finish it in time?” my mother asked.
My mother asked if/whether I could finish it in time.
“Does he know the victim?” I asked
I asked if/ whether he knew the victim.
Integrated skills
1、A child has been kidnapped. 一個孩子被綁架了。
has been kidnapped 現在完成時的被動語態
e.g. A new bridge has been built already.
2、He was wearing a red T-shirt, blue shorts and a brown jacket.
他穿著一件紅色的T恤衫，藍色的短褲和一件棕色的茄克。
short 在這里是名詞：短褲
3、Well, what did you think of our first suspect, Wang Gang?
你認為第一個嫌疑人王剛怎么樣？
這個句子用過去式主要是指“你經過調查之后的感覺”。
4、He seemed a nice man. 他好像是個好人。
seem 似乎、好像，后面可以直接跟表語，也可以用動詞不定式作表語。所以上句也可以寫成： He seemed (to be) a nice man.
e.g. You seem right = You seem to be right
Main Task
1、Tom planned to take the necklace to the police station the next day.
Tom計劃第二天把項鏈拿到警察局去。
the next day 第二天，常用于過去時或過去將來時的句子中。
e.g. He said he would come to see me the next day.
2、Tom and the jewel thief Tom和珠寶小偷
jewel n. 珠寶，珍貴的人或物
jewellery n. 珠寶飾品，首飾
jeweler n. 珠寶商
3、Tom got along with all of his neighbours except the man who lived next door.
除了隔壁住的那個人以外，Tom和他所有的鄰居相處得好。
get along / on with sb. 和……相處
e.g. How are you getting along with your classmates? Well.
except 介詞，除……之外
e.g. We go to school every day except Sunday.
4、No one knew what he did for a living.
沒有人知道他以什么謀生。
for a living 為了生存
e.g. She sells books for a living. 她以賣書謀生/為生
5、You’re under arrest for murder. (P110) 因為謀殺，你被逮捕了。
arrest 在這里是名詞
be under arrest 被逮捕
