英文作文 篇1
He placed his two boxes on the floor and held the door open for his co-worker to pass through. Then, the co-worker did the same for him. It turned out that the hike up the stairs was not too bad, at least it was better than what Shawn had imagined. But then, he did see the slightly flushed face of his co-worker who was taking deep breaths. Together, the two people headed towards the meeting room. Still, the strange feeling from the brief encounter in the stairway did not leave Shawn.
英文作文 篇2
People often say, "Time is money," But in fact time is more valuable than money. Why? Because when money is spent, we can earn it back. However, when time is lost, it will never return. This is the reason why we must value time.
The time we have is limited. Every second is precious. We should make full use of our time. But there are a lot of people who do not know the importance of time. They kill away their time chatting, smoking, drinking or gambling, They do not realize that wasting time is simply wasting their valuable life.
In a word, we should get into the good habit of saving time. Do not leave what can be done today until tomorrow. Laziness will not only bring us failure but also lead us to the road of poverty.
英文作文 篇3
Innovation
With the development of social economy, innovation has received more and more attention as to the obbligato role of innovation in social development.
Why do so many people think that innovation is important
Later on, I will demonstrate this problem from three aspects. First of all, for individuals, innovative thinking has a significant impact on the future of human beings. People make progress by way of innovation day by day. Furthermore, for enterprises, innovation is the basis of the
survival and development. Innovation can improve production efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises. Last but not least, for countries, innovation is the soul of national prosperity and national
progress. Without innovation, countries couldn't survive in the world.
So how do we promote innovation
As far as I am concerned, both individuals and governments should take an active part. For individuals, we should enhance the innovative thinking and improve the ability of innovation. In addition, we should actively participate in innovation activities. For governments, they should encourage social innovation, providing preferential policies and favorable conditions. Merely in this way, can we create a social environment conducive to innovation virtually.
英文作文 篇4
As a result of the double agenda pertaining to the emancipation of women, their participation in production, made visible in posters, was seen as one of the basic keys to bring about their liberation. although posters of women working as welders or in other industrial activities do appear in the first one and a half decade of prc-posters, most of their activities in this period remain located in agriculture.
Their work in this sector ranged from working in the fields to raising livestock. during the campaigns where the setting up of sideline occupations was stressed, women in particular played an important role. the pervading message in these campaigns seemed to be that women still had plenty of time and energy left to engage in sideline activities after they had returned from spending a long day of backbreaking work in the fields.by the late 1950s, when the policies designed to mechanize agriculture actually resulted in more mechanized equipment becoming available in the rural areas, the tractor was gradually introduced in posters. more often that not, posters showed how this piece of modern heavy-duty equipment was operated by a woman. the propaganda intention of the posters featuring these tractor girls seemed to be two-fold: it illustrated both the increases in the availability of farm machinery (and the successes of the party in XXX all this possible) and the ability of women to actually operate these machines. in reality, however, the tractor operator usually was a man.
By the time of the cultural revolution, this trend of showing women taking on types of work generally associated with men was continued. in particular during the time when the movement to learn from the agricultural model commune of dazhai was at its peak in the 1960s and 1970s, the muscular and energetic female team members, “imitation boys” (jia xiaozi) or “iron women” (tie nüren) working under commune leader chen yonggui, played an enormously influential function as role models for women. iron girls inspired women to take on the most difficult and demanding tasks.generally speaking, then, women were confined to agriculture. women in the forefront of industrial production only became a poster theme from the great leap forward onwards. the trend was continued in cultural revolution posters, when women increasingly were represented while at work in factories. this was not necessarily limited to the textile industries, which were traditionally seen as typical places where women ought to work.
Although not explicitly visible in propaganda posters, female members of the urban work force were employed along unstated gender lines. men usually were given technical jobs, and women were assigned non-technical, auxiliary and service jobs, regardless of their educational level.while women who in preceding decades often were depicted while engaging in typically masculine pursuits, strong pressure was exerted on them in the 1980s to return to their traditional, more 'feminine' roles of servants/waitresses, mothers and child-rearers. paralleling the changes in thinking among the leadership, the need was no longer felt in official art to urge women to break through the traditional assumptions of gender inferiority.
Instead of going out to work, they were exhorted more and more often to return to the stove and engage in home XXX. such exhortations were voiced with renewed vigor in the late 1990s, when female workers who had been made redundant by the ever larger number of bankrupt state-owned industries were called upon to take on the responsibility for the domestic side of family life. a number of women on maternity leave even saw their legally granted period of absence extended indefinitely. on the other hand, the large numbers of women migrating from rural areas looking for employment in industry, the so-called 'working girls' (dagongmei), constitute a relatively cheap female labor force that is exploited relentlessly in the name of economic development.
英文作文 篇5
I think there are three themes revealed in the novel Great Expectations.
1.women are fragile. That is not because those women are in lack of will, but that they need surviving abilities and that of self-survival and struggle against destiny. They always turn to men. That can be called “hero saving the beauty”. This notion originated in the Greek tales but is still adopted successively. The only difference between them lies in the plot and structure. Estella is adopted and trained to break men?s hearts by Miss Havisham. Havisham revenges men and marries Estella to an unworthy guy though Pip deeply loves Estella. Nothing can be bitterer than see his lover married to another guy for a man. Pip really fell into the despair of losing Estella. However, Estella suffers a lot and begins to regret for her initial choice for her spouse and begins to treasure
2.Facing destiny, women are physically and intellectually inferior to men. Actually it does not mean they have an inferior intelligence, but that it seems so. Or we can say that both men and women have the same potential of intelligence, but women never show a lot. God creates everyone equally, but not everyone is granted the same approaches to success or achievements. Women are restricted to families, which restricts
them from showing a lot. They can cook food well, which is one standard for their excellence but not the one for male. The novel goes this way since it implies the male consciousness. The ordinary intelligence of women in marriage and love is exposed completely. Havisham is abandoned on her wedding day, but she keeps the room like the day she got married, while on the other hand she tries every means to revenge men. Bearing these two conflictive thoughts in mind, Havisham certainly fails to live her own life out of the control or influence from male.
3.The discipline for women ]. A feminist De Bufuwa says: “One is called woman because she is ?made? not ?born?.” Culturally woman is the product of society and the result of its strict restrictions. Those women who do not obey the disciplines are not regarded as gracious or good women by social criteria, which emphasizes on families, the responsibilities for their husbands and their dependence on men. In Great Expectations, Estella and Havisham?s misfortunes are closely attached to love and marriage. They try to revenge men and but they cannot leave men. Estella leaves Pip, but at last she comes back to him. And Havisham keeps thinking about her marriage day and her husband. So in Dickens?s novel, women are decent on surface, but failed in heart.
Every period has an outstanding feature, which make descendants linger in mind. To learn this novel can help us in understanding better women?s efforts to stand up. Society presses public to believe that male
plays a dominant role. Havisham can symbolize a feminist but what then? She needs a male accompany. Her ending somewhat is tragic but Estella harvests through a long time, but anyway she wins in depending man and leading a pleasant life.
英文作文 篇6
Zeng Qiao is one of my friends. She is a beautiful, outgoingand good-tempered girl. She smiles frequently. I think it’s her smile that makes her beauty. We live in the same dormitory, so that we always stay together, no matter going to classroom or having dinners. At first, I don’t like her very much, because she is always talking. It seems that she can’t stop open her mouth. I am a little bit quiet and introverted, so I seldom talk to others. But gradually, I find that she can have influence on others by what she says. Zeng Qiao likes sharing interesting things with others. For example, she likes telling us her funny stories of her childhood or her former classmates. She always tells me that I should be more extroverted and learn to talk to others. Under the influence of her, I communicate with others more frequently and I find that it feels so great. I am so grateful that I can have such a good friend.
英文作文 篇7
Our capacity to cope successfully with lifes challenges far outstrips our capacity to feel nervousness. Yet in the weeks, days, and hours leading up to an event that we believe will test our limits, we can become nervous. While we may have previously regarded ourselves as equal to the trials that lie ahead, we reach a point at which they near and our anxiety begins to mount. We then become increasingly worked up, until the moment of truth arrives and we discover that our worry was all for nothing. We are almost always stronger and more capable than we believe ourselves to be. But anxiety is not rational in nature, which means that in most cases we cannot work through it using logic as our only tool. Reason can help us recognize the relative futility of unwarranted worry but, more often than not, we will find more comfort in patterns of thought and activity that redirect our attention to practical or engaging matters.
Most of us find it remarkably difficult to focus on two distinct thoughts or emotions at once, and we can use this natural human limitation to our advantage when trying to stay centered in the period leading up to a potentially tricky experience. When we concentrate on something unrelated to our worryuch as deep breathing, visualizations of success, pleasurable pursuits, or exercisenxiety dissipates naturally. Meditation is also a useful coping mechanism as it provides us with a means to ground ourselves in the moment. Our guides can aid us by providing us with a focal point wholly outside of our own sphere.
英文作文 篇8
Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take friendship for granted,we often dont clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people,we are usually friends with only a very few----for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together.but beyond that, the degree of intimacy between them and the reasons for the shared interests vary enormously. As we get to know people we take into account things like age, race ,economic conditions, social position, and intelligence.Although these factors are not of prime importance,it is more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background.
Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs,to have attitudes and interests in commen ---they often talk about being on the same wavelength .it generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they rely on one another .people want to do friends favours and hate to break a promise.Equally, friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits and try to tolerate differencesof opinion. In contrast with marriage ,there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the association between two persons. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from shared experiences and emotions does seem to a powerful bond ,which can overcome differences in background ,and break down barriers of age, class or race.
英文作文 篇9
I say, smile is a sign of a person.
She said, I like smiling.
She is an unfortunate and fortunate person. She is always smiling, whether it is unfortunate or lucky. The world is unfair to her, she turned a blind eye, always walk in their own way. We are all in this world listen to the stream, from the flower fragrance. She said, I am very happy. She who loves her, and who has her love, is surrounded by her. However, different things are always so sad.
That day, she hid in her mother at the corner of the room, no lights, very dark, very dark, the sun is out of the window. She said, you see, mother's room is very clean, she will be back in a moment. She loved her mother and loved her more than she could say. From now on, there is no smile on her face. From then on, I never saw her again. Her father took her abroad for treatment of depression.
I used to fantasize about with her to see the midnight, her, took her to see the rain a sunny day, with her running. Now smoke.
She said she would wait for me in a corner of the world.
I said, wait for me to take you home.
In this bustling world, I lost a smile, I have been looking for, has been looking for, I believe she will be as she said, always waiting for me.
I was naive to find, naive and persistent, eventually lost her, also lost her.
