On the afternoon of november 18, we had the opening ceremony of the fourth dongzhou middle school sports festival. Each class gave a wonderful performance.
The next day, we had an exciting sports meeting. many players were in it. All the others just watched them. Some were busy writing articles about it. The boys and girls 1500 metres races were the most exciting games.
The relay races were exciting, too. Everyone cheered for the competitions. They did their best. When they scored for their own class, everyone was so excited that they jumped to their feet. The sports meeting didn't end until four in the afternoon. We were tired but we were so happy.
在11月18日的下午，我們東洲第四中學舉行了體育節的開幕儀式，每個班級進行了精彩的表演。

Yesterday our grade held a sports meeting.We have six classes in our grade. All the classes did very well.
In the Boys' 100-metre race, I.Jn I.in from Class 2 won the first. At first, Zhang Lin from our class and I.in %ao from Class 1 were neck and neck. Lin Lin fell behind, but, finally he tried his best and came out first.
In the Girls' 100-metre race, Mei Mei ran the fastest, and Zhang Fang from Class 4 and Li Ming from Class 5 were both fell behind. But they tried their best, and that was enough.
In the High Jump, when Jin Ling jumped 1.80 metres high, all the classes stood up and cried,"Well done!Congratulations!" But Liu Tao from our class also did very well,he jumped 1.71 metres high and Chen Hao, 1.56 metres high.
In the Long Jump, Zhang Ming from Class 2 was the top.He jumped 7.78 metres long. Zhou Ping and Gao Lin from Class 4 and Class 6 were both very good.

basketball needs quick reaction and decision. when chance comes, it may disappear in the net second. i should keep an eye watching as an eagle, decide and judge quickly as a leopard, and run for it as a wolf.
further more, basketball is a sports more than just eercising, it needs team work. no one can play himself. a team should work together. so i learn to cooperate with others in this game. i should understand what my teammate doing and what he needs me to do for him. on the other side, i should learn to show my teammate what i need. at the same time, i need to keep an eye on the whole game, knowing how is the situation of our team and how is the other team. it involved more cooperation and strategy.
i played basketball more for about 5 years now. i make many good friends throught this sports. it is proud to win honor for my team and my school. also i enjoy all games with my friends. basketball will be my best friends in the future and my best memory about school life.

When did sport begin? If sport is, in essence, play, the claim might be made that sport is much older than humankind, for , as we all have observed, the beasts play. Dogs and cats wrestle and play ball games. Fishes and birds dance. The apes have simple, pleasurable games. Frolicking infants, school children playing tag, and adult arm wrestlers are demonstrating strong, transgenerational and transspecies bonds with the universe of animals - past, present, and future. Young animals, particularly, tumble, chase, run wrestle, mock, imitate, and laugh (or so it seems) to the point of delighted exhaustion. Their play, and ours, appears to serve no other purpose than to give pleasure to the players, and apparently, to remove us temporarily from the anguish of life in earnest.
Some philosophers have claimed that our playfulness is the most noble part of our basic nature. In their generous conceptions, play harmlessly and experimentally permits us to put our creative forces, fantasy, and imagination into action. Play is release from the tedious battles against scarcity and decline which are the incessant, and inevitable, tragedies of life. This is a grand conception that excites and provokes. The holders of this view claim that the origins of our highest accomplishments ---- liturgy, literature, and law ---- can be traced to a play impulse which, paradoxically, we see most purely enjoyed by young beasts and children. Our sports, in this rather happy, nonfatalistic view of human nature, are more splendid creations of the nondatable, transspecies play impulse.
